Money advisers and local authorities

We work with organisations across the UK who provide money advice to people who are experiencing financial difficulties. We have several concessions and payment plans available for your clients who may be eligible.

  • The Simple Payment Plan is our most affordable payment plan and can help people stay on top of their payments. To find out more about the Simple Payment Plan and how it can support your clients, visit our Simple Payment Plan page.
  • We also provide free TV Licences for people aged 75 and over who are receiving Pension Credit. If you’re over 75 and not in receipt of Pension Credit you have to pay for a TV licence. If you are over 75, you can check if you can get a free TV Licence.
  • If your client is registered severely sight impaired, they may be eligible for a 50% discount on the price of their TV Licence.

More information on these concessions is available on our cost of living support page.

Please download our guide for advisers which aims to answer some of the additional questions you may have about TV Licensing.

If you support somebody who is blind (severely sight impaired) and they can provide the appropriate evidence, they are eligible to apply for a 50% concession. The licence will also cover anybody who lives with them. If they are partially sighted (sight impaired) they are not eligible.

Useful web page for blind (severely sight impaired) customers:

If you support somebody who is deaf, has hearing loss, or is speech impaired, we support the Relay UK service. Relay UK helps deaf, speech-impaired, and hearing people talk to each other over the phone using text relay.

If you have a disability we will consider all requests for other adjustments to our standard service and accommodate requests that we judge to be reasonable. If you need us to consider an adjustment, please call us on 0300 790 6076.

Our Easy Read leaflet provides key information explained simply about the TV Licence, including how much it costs, how to get one, what to do if you don’t need one, and how to contact us if you need more help.

If you are moving house and have an existing licence, let us know. You can do this up to three months before you move via our moving house page.

We understand moving home can be stressful, to help you change address, we’ve put together a moving house checklist.

Residential care homes & almshouses

Many residential care homes are eligible for a special type of licence. Care home residents, and those in supported housing, and sheltered accommodation may be able to benefit from a concessionary TV licence. This is known as an Accommodation for Residential Care (ARC) licence. It costs £7.50 per room, flat or bungalow.

To see if you qualify for an ARC licence, visit care home and sheltered accommodation residents.

If you are a manager of a residential care home, supported housing or sheltered accommodation, you need to make sure that residents, staff and guests are covered by a TV Licence if they need one.

You can apply for an ARC licence and find out more via residential care homes and sheltered accommodation.

Support charities and ethnic minority groups

We know that many people who may be struggling with their finances may not be in contact with a Money Advice organisation. We provide advice to organisations like mental health organisations, women’s groups, and charities working with ethnic minority communities to provide them with information to support their clients who have a higher risk of facing financial difficulties.

Scams support

We are aware of the rise of scam emails and texts claiming to be from TV Licensing. These scams have significantly increased in sophistication and appear to look like genuine communications.

STOP, CHECK, ASK campaign toolkit

To help keep the public scam safe, TV Licensing has released a refreshed communication campaign called STOP, CHECK, ASK to help build awareness around how to spot a scam message and where to report it to.

Please promote and amplify our key message with your audiences in-person and online via your organisation social media channels, websites, and other platforms.

Our message is simple. If you receive a text or email which you think may be a scam, STOP and carefully analyse the content of the message for mistakes, CHECK to see if the details are from official sources by hovering over the sender’s details, and if you’re unsure ASK someone to check for you.

This toolkit helps you and your customers to identify genuine TV Licensing communications, and to spot the scammers.
