I’ve moved in with someone who already has a licence

• Are you covered by their licence? If the other person is your spouse, partner, family member or joint tenancy or joint mortgage holder, you will normally be covered by their licence.
• Tenant or lodger? You’ll usually need your own licence if you’re going to be a tenant or lodger.

If you are sure you no longer need your licence you can see if you're eligible for a refund and cancel your licence online.

I want to transfer my licence to someone else

You can give us written permission to transfer your licence to someone at your old address. Please write to us at: TV Licensing, Darlington DL98 1TL.

I’ve moved abroad

If you no longer live in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, you can see if you're eligible for a refund and cancel your licence online.

I won't be watching live on any TV channel, pay TV service or streaming service, or using BBC iPlayer, at my new address

If this is the case, please tell us you don’t need a licence.

If you haven’t needed your licence for at least a month, you can claim a refund online.
