I'm over 75 and pay for my TV Licence. Can I cancel and get a refund?

After your 75th birthday, your licence will not automatically change to a free TV Licence. You will need to apply so that we can check if you’re eligible.

If you pay by Direct Debit, please don’t cancel it. We will cancel your Direct Debit for you when we process your application if you are eligible for a free TV Licence.

Anyone aged 74 or over and receiving Pension Credit can apply for a free TV Licence. Pension Credit can be in the name of the licence holder, or in their partner’s name if they’re a couple and live at the same address.

If you or your partner don’t receive Pension Credit you’ll need to continue to pay for your licence.
