Do I need a TV Licence in a hall of residence?

Yes. Your hall probably has a licence covering TVs in communal areas, but this won't cover you to watch TV in your room.

You will need your own licence to watch live on any channel, TV service or streaming service, and to use BBC iPlayer*. On any device.

You may already be covered by a licence at another address if you only watch on devices (such as a laptop, phone or tablet) that aren’t plugged into the mains and you have a licence at your out-of-term address.

*A licence is not needed to watch S4C programmes on demand.
