TV Licensing payment card

What is a TV Licensing payment card?

A TV Licensing payment card allows you to spread the cost of your TV Licence with flexible payment options. You can use it to pay weekly and fortnightly, or monthly, from around £6.50. Once your card is set up, you can pay online, via the TVL Pay app, by phone, by text message or in person at any PayPoint store.

How can I apply for a payment card? (new customers)

If you don’t already have a TV Licensing payment card, you can apply online or call 0300 555 0286*.

It’s free to apply, and there’s no charge for using it.

How it works

1. You can choose how often to pay

Pay weekly and fortnightly

You'll usually pay for your first licence in 26 payments, one each week. After that you'll switch to fortnightly payments instead.

Pay monthly

You'll usually pay for your first licence in six months. After that you’ll have 12 months to pay for your next licence, so the payments will be smaller.

2. We’ll send you a payment plan

This tells you when and how much you will need to pay.

You can also view your last 10 payments online or make a payment you’ve missed by debit or credit card when you sign in to view your licence.

3. When will I receive my payment card?

You should receive your TV Licensing payment card within 10 days after your application or request for a replacement card. If you haven’t received it after this time, please call 0300 303 8617* and let us know your:

  • licence number or customer number;
  • last name;
  • postcode.

You will receive your TV Licence in the post.

4. Sign up for our free text reminder service

Once you have signed up to a TV Licensing payment card, we can send you handy text reminders to make sure you don't miss a payment. Please refer to your Welcome pack on how to set this up.
